One of the biggest factors in making a meat-first diet sustainable is having the right basics easily available. A “carnivore pantry” isn’t about having dozens of ingredients — it’s about smart storage and a few reliable staples.
Freezer basics
Your freezer is likely your most important storage space. Consider keeping:
A variety of steak cuts (ribeye, sirloin, etc.)
Ground beef (portion it before freezing)
Slow-cooking cuts (chuck, brisket, short ribs)
Bone broth (frozen in portions)
Optional: organ meats or lamb
Organizing by date and type helps avoid waste and makes it easier to plan meals.
Fridge basics
Keep on hand:
Eggs
Butter or tallow
Leftover cooked meat (for quick reheating)
Fresh bone broth (if you make it regularly)
Seasoning and fat
A small selection of seasonings and fats goes a long way:
Good quality salt (and maybe flaky salt for finishing)
Pepper (if tolerated)
Garlic or herbs (optional, depending on tolerance)
Cooking fats (tallow, butter, ghee, or lard)
Reheating and convenience
Having easy reheating options reduces friction significantly. Consider:
Pre-cooked and portioned slow-cooked meat
Frozen bone broth that can be quickly reheated
Leftover steaks that can be gently warmed without overcooking
The goal is to make it easy to eat well even on busy or low-energy days.
